This list is for communication between members of 350S steering committee.
Messages sent via the list behave in much the same way as any email that you send or receive.
Think of the address 350s-steeringcommittee@groups.electricembers.net as a group address.
When you send an email to 350s-steeringcommittee@groups.electricembers.net, everyone on list will receive it.
When you reply to an email from 350s-steeringcommittee@groups.electricembers.net, everyone on list will receive it.
READ THE FOLLOWING ONLY IF YOU WANT MORE DETAILS - NOT NECESSARY FOR USE OF LIST.
Once you send or receive a message from 350s-steeringcommittee@groups.electricembers.net, most computer mail applications will remember the address. The next time you initiate a message, as you start typing "350s-s...", the rest of the address will pop up. Of you can add the address to your contacts, with similar result, if that is easier.
Since this does require a bit of change on your part, here is why I hope you are motivated to do it:
- By having a centralized master list, people will not be inadvertently added or dropped, as often happens if
you use cc: to send to multiple recipients. This alone makes the list worthwhile. But there is more...
-Your mailbox will be better organized.
- The subject line of all messages distributed from the list start with [350s-steering committee]. (This is added by the
server, you don't have to type that into your subject line when you start a new message) This allows
you to sort your messages alphabetically and see all messages grouped together.
- All messages that are replies to the same original message will be nested together in your inbox,
making it easier to follow the conversation. (At least this works on my computer's mail program - let me know if this doesn't happen for you)
